Science Olympiad takes home the bronze
Science Olympiad Takes Home the Bronze
We are so proud of our future scientists and engineers here at Nelson. Under the leadership of Mrs. Oyakawa and Mrs. Diaz, these fine Olympiads really showed off their stuff at the annual Science Olympiad event at Occidental College in Los Angeles on March 2, 2019! Seventeen students, grades 4-6, were selected by application, to be a part of this amazing team. They meet with their coaches twice a week to research, collaborate, design, learn, and prepare for this big event...They scored with high marks and earned a BRONZE medal...(our students will always be GOLD to us)!
For more information about the actual event that took place, click on the link below. Congratulations to our Nelson Olympians...some of Nelson's finest!
Student COuncil Ready for action!
2019-2020 Student Council Officers and Representatives Making a Difference! These spectacular Student Council leaders, from the 4th, 5th, and 6th Grades, are out to make a difference. Under the guidance of Ms. Ahmad and Mr. Park, they are presently helping out with The Kids' Heart Challenge, and are motivating our students to keep active and healthy, while raising money for The American Heart Association through donations. Students who raise a minimum of $25, will be able to SILLY STRING our principal, Ms. McCall, when the fundraiser ends.
These young leaders have lots of fun and exciting activities planned for the school year. Some of the activities taking place soon are more spirit days and the Pennies for Patients Drive. These students are exemplary student role models and really have committed to "stepping up to the plate" to lead our Knights' student body into an unforgettable school year. GO KNIGHTS!
